This is a brand new 2011 model of the Samsung Plasma HDTV.
The Samsung PN51D450 doesn’t bring anything new in the technology side, but it’s price tag is something we haven’t seen before – a 51″ Plasma HDTV for less than 750$ is something new.
Samsung PN51D450 gives you a very nice picture for it’s price – it got a 600Hz subfield motion technology to give you a smooth picture even on fast scenarios like on football games, you will also enjoy a full HD 16:9 playback.

Excellent Picture Quality but poor tuners quality

Pros: Picture quality was good right out the box, Good off angle viewing. Good sound.

Cons: Very weak OTA tuners.

Summary: A great TV but not for use with OTA antenna as you will need cable or satelite. The TV is unable to pick up some local OTA stations while others have lots of artifacts. My 3 year old Sanyo can get 25 local digital OTA stations 8 of which are HD and never has artifacts or other problems using the same antenna. The presets are too dark for me but can be adjusted. I used the Disney WOW Blu-Ray calibration disc to calibrate the TV to my liking. Black levels look good to me but I don’t watch TV in a dark room. It is a great TV for $700. Works nicely with my LG BD player with TV remote controling both units with the HDMI simplink feature.

Amazing TV !

Pros: The 120 Hz and overall picture quality are superb, the pictures are so crisp. The 42LD550 now has 4 HDMI ports.

Cons: Nothing yet, obviously sound would be an issue if I were not using a home theatre system.

Summary: I talked the HH Gregg guy into giving me this model for $550, I feel like i stole it at that price.

Is it a TV? Or something better, and the answer is Yes!

Pros: The quality of the picture can go head to head with any high end set on the market today. The Intelligent Sensor is a cool feature on this set too.
Cons: The sound quality is just good and you may need to add a home theater system to help bring it up to par. If not, you may find yourself turning up the set to get a more full sound out of it.
