Vizio M-Series Theater 3D TVs Go On Sale

After almost a year, that is since it was first announced at the CES 2011, the M-series is now available for consumers to buy. The M3D HDTVs are edge lit LED LCD panels with passive 3D technology, which they have termed as Theater 3D (similar to LG Cinema 3D). Vizio‘s adoption of the passive 3D tech will allow their customers to buy and wear cheaper, lighter passive 3D glasses, which in practical terms is found to be favored over active 3D glasses by a majority of the consumers. There is a gigantic 65-inch ($2,099) M3D model coming in 2012, but at the moment, there are the 42-inchers ($1,039) and the 55-inchers ($1,649). After taking a look at the price tags, we were pleased that Vizio is hanging on to its low price-high quality promise effectively. Also expect Smart TV features such as hulu plus, Pandora, Netflix etc on the M3D series. You will get four pairs of the passive 3D glasses right out of the box to get you started on your 3D experience as well.

LG HDTV Models Leaked Online

It looks like the LW980S is not going to be LG’s flagship model for too long now. Reports suggest that the 55LM9600 was awarded with a “CES 2012 Innovations Award” and the news about the model got out before LG intended it to, via an “error”. The much awaited trade show is due in January, 2012 at Las Vegas, but the awards are already being presented to the winning products by the organizers. The CES awards are mainly given on the merits of innovation, more than anything else and in this respect, LG has been awarded three awards in the “Video Displays” section (out of a total of five) for its 55LM9600 (Nano Full LED Backlight), 55LM8600 (Edge LED) and 60PM9700 (Plasma 3D).

The news about the upcoming models may have leaked out but the technical specifications are not unfortunately; so for those, we will have to wait till January. Although the LW980S may lose its position as the flagship model for LG, the officials at LG have expressed ideas about continuing with the production of the LW980S as a separate series of their HDTV collection.
