Vizio’s Brand New 21:9 Ultra-wide TV Has A Hefty Price Tag

The Vizio XVT 3D CinemaWide TrueLED Smart TV is going to be introduced to the US consumers soon with a price tag of $3499, but the exact date is yet to be announced. The 58-inch LED LCD TV is designed to display pictures at a higher than Full HD resolution of 2560 x 1080, in an ultra-wide aspect ratio of 21:9, instead of the standard 16:9. The new aspect ratio is expected to provide the viewers with an experience which is almost identical to what one experiences in an actual cinema hall. Watching cinema-cut movies and 3D content on this gigantic set is definitely the main attraction of the CinemaWide TV, but also consider this; you would be able to watch a movie in 16:9 aspect ratio, which is Full HD, and yet surf the net at the same time in the extra space on the extreme left or right.

The Passive 3D TV will have a refresh rate of 120Hz, Smart Dimming at 32 different spots, 400 nits of brightness, PIP, Bluetooth and SRS surround sound to name a few of its features that we came to know of back in January at the CES 2012, but you can expect more when it finally comes out. You would not have any shortage of connectivity options while connecting your HDMI compatible devices as the TV sports 5 HDMI ports. A standard antennae socket along with component, composite and VGA ports (one of each) can be expected. USB and Ethernet compatibility has become a standard feature these days, therefore two USB 2.0 ports and one Ethernet port would be present. In order to stay true to the “Smart TV” moniker, Vizio has enabled Wi-Fi 802.11n on the 58-incher for wireless browsing. Although it has a price tag which is heftier than other popular sets introduced by the company so far, it would be interesting to see whether it manages to deliver and live up to its hype.

World’s Most Energy Efficient LCD Televisions are Brought to You by LG

LG has announced that they are going to release a new 47-inch LCD panel that will set a new benchmark in power efficiency. The technology, termed as “Vertical Single Side LED Backlighting” is designed to make the new panel the most power efficient among all other 40-inch plus models present in the market. They are even claiming that it will consume even less power than computer monitors that are above the 20 inch mark. In spite of its remarkable power efficiency, we have been assured that brightness will not take a hit at all. As the price of electricity keeps on mounting, such an innovation is always welcome because who would not want a giant HDTV which not only provides great visual quality but also saves electricity.

The power efficiency is largely achieved by bringing down the number of LED lights used to provide optimum brightness. In order to both maintain a high level of brightness as well as use less lights to achieve it, LG has introduced the first backlighting technology where the LED lamps are strategically placed along just one side(vertically) of the flat panel. The results are very impressive as the new panel is found to be using only 28W while producing 400 Nits of brightness. Local Dimming is another feature of the 47-inch LCD panel and we are even hopeful that a tax credit may be on offer as well!

A Look at the Toshiba TL515 “Natural 3D TV”

After the glassless 3D surprise that the Japanese company brought to us with the ZL2 at IFA 2011, Toshiba is now back to 3D with glasses. The Toshiba TL515 is targeted towards the more budget conscious TV enthusiasts among us with its combo of affordable pricing and impressive technology, especially with the inclusion of Toshiba’s Natural 3D tech. The TL515 will have Smart TV capabilities with Yahoo widgets and Netflix present in it, right out of the box. To add value to the Passive 3D powered television set, you will also get four 3D glasses when you buy the TV in addition to the option of buying a “Party Pack” of them at $60 only. Expect standard Full HD features like 1080p playback for both 2D and 3D video where it is supported, with a refresh rate of 240Hz and local dimming capabilities to attain the deepest of black levels on the LED panel. All of this was showcased at the Pepcom’s 2011 Holiday Spectacular in New York City, by Toshiba last week. Although the sizes were announced to range from 32″ to 55″ in the TL515 series, the exact prices may differ depending on your location, however, you can catch a bargain on Amazon without having to worry about that.

The Hallmark LG LW9800 Begins Shipping

The best TV of LG‘s range of 3D HDTVs in 2011 is going to be available for the consumers in US starting today. As per the announcement at the CEDIA 2011 in Indianapolis, the 55LW9800 will be priced at $3,799.

The LX9500 was the best 3D TV from LG in 2010 and it was also the last TV from LG that used the Active Shutter 3D technology. With the LW9800, LG has totally chucked the Active Shutter 3D out of their HDTVs and has incorporated the Passive 3D tech which they call “Cinema 3D“. Cinema 3D has made 3D glasses cheaper, lighter and more comfortable as well as increasing the viewing angle of the televisions that use this technology.

The only squabble that some of the techies had about the LX9500 was that the picture, though brilliant, lacked uniform lighting at certain points especially. LG has addressed this issue with the introduction of the Nano Full LED technology through the LW9800, which uses a thin film and multiple nano LED lights strategically placed throughout the back of the screen. The Local Dimming tech would also be there to help you achieve some of the inkiest blacks possible on a LED TV. A 480Hz refresh rate should ensure that motion blurring is an issue of the past.

Apart from the techs and promises from the manufacturer, perhaps it would further help you choose if you knew that this particular TV is THX certified for both its 2D and 3D capabilities, something that should ensure high class viewing experience for its audiences. The LW9800 ships with the Magic Motion remote control unit and four pairs of Cinema 3D glasses at this moment.
